As with all of our online learning, our designs avoid the traditional read and click approach to online learning. We achieve this by challenging learners with realistic situations. Learners are asked to decide how they would respond to each situation. They then receive feedback on their decisions that helps them learn important concepts.

A good example of this learning philosophy in action is the Hierarchy of Controls exercise. Instead of providing the learner with a list of steps followed by a multiple choice question, we place the learner in a role play where they are forced to make a number of decisions about an OH&S situation in the office. As the scenario progresses learners are presented with the Hierarchy of Control content through feedback on their choices. At the end of the situation, the learner has applied the principles within the context of a real situation, cementing their understanding of the concept.
